So close…

March 30th, 2007

Vacation is so close…I can already smell the crisp mountain air! I’m about ready to pack up and leave work. I’m always paranoid about being gone…but I’m so ready for vacation. Mom’s coming down tonight and we’re including her in our “Pizza Friday” festivities. Jared found the recipe for Papa John’s cheese sauce…so we’re thinking about giving that a try. WE just have a few more things to pack…and we’ll be ready to go. Woo-hoo!

Working Out

March 28th, 2007

So I finally got myself to start running again. I’m starting off slow…so that I don’t burn out. I had a good solid mile in last night…and it actually felt pretty good! Jared’s been doing sit-ups and push-ups each night too, so I started joining him on that as well. It felt good to run a 5K last summer, and I’d really like to be able to do more this summer, and not feel like I’m going to die half-way through! This girly is going to start running seriously!

Oh…I can’t forget the horror which was American Idol last night. Pony-tail mohawk…are you kidding me?! Part of me doesn’t want to even watch the results show tonight…for fear of throwing something at my tv and breaking it. We shall see.

Back to work I must go…and finish things up…because vacation is just around the corner!

Amazing Weather

March 27th, 2007

“Yay” for crazy long walks…seriously…I love them! “Yay” for vacation in 5 days…woohoo!

This weekend I was asked to audition for the vocal team at our churches new multi-site. (It’s opening in September.) I haven’t sang in years…so I’m super nervous about it. I know it’s a position that needs filling…and I’m trying to be positive about it…knowing full well that sometimes serving God puts you out of your comfort zone. So…if you would…think of me in two weeks as I’m nervously auditioning!

Good movies…

March 26th, 2007

We had a chance to watch a few movies this week…2 were rented…one in the theatre. We rented Melinda Melinda and Facing the Giants…which were both well worth the $4.00 spent to rent both of them. Melinda Melinda has Will Ferrell in it…kind of the same type of homor as Stranger than Fiction….either way…I definitely recommend it! Facing the Giants is a football movie made by a church in Georgia as a ministry for them. Though not the fanciest movie I’ve ever seen…it was wonderful. It was so nice to see a Christ-centered film showing people dealing with real life. Definitely worth the rent! The other movie was saw at the theatre was Reign Over Me…the new Adam Sandler flick. Thanks to an amazing soundtrack and an amazing storyline…this movie was also amazing! It was such a good role for Sandler…and is definitely worth buying when it hits DVD. The rest of our weekend was really good. Pizza Friday (except it was Saturday this week) proved to be quite fruitful. We’re well on our way to amazing homemade pizza! This week will be spent catching up on work and getting things together around the house. We leave on Saturday for vacation…woo-hoo!!!

The weekend’s almost here…

March 23rd, 2007

It’s finally Friday…yay! Actually this week went pretty fast, so it’s kind of crazy that it’s already nearing an end. Jared and I are babysitting Carrigan tonight…which should be a lot of fun. Because of that…Pizza Friday will temporarily be Pizza Saturday this weekend. We’re planning a take 2 on last week’s recipe. I’m pretty excited! Jared made the dough last night…so it’s slowly preparing itself to be delicious pizza tomorrow night. I’m a little bummed today…it’s been raining since I woke up. It’s still really warm outside, but it’s so dismal. I was really hoping for a sunny Friday…to help end the week on a high note. Anyway…I don’t have much to write about. I’ll post more later!

Anxiously Awaiting….

March 21st, 2007

I’m anxiously awaiting the American Idol results show tonight. My favorite parts of last night included, but are not limited to, Blake’s amazing rendition of The Season….and of course, the little crying girl. I personally don’t think it’s ironic that started crying everytime Sanjia came near her or started singing! He did up his game a little bit though…but all it did was make me laugh hysterically. (Which was fued even more by the crying girl!) Anyway…in more exciting news…this past “Pizza Friday” was pretty much a success. Our Papa John’s crust turned out really well…just needed a little bit longer in the oven. We’re going to try the same recipe again this week…but we got a few more cheeses to better perfect our “cheese medley”…fingers crossed!

I’m sitting at community college right now…trying to recruit some students. It’s been pretty quiet so far…with the exception of one student that came running down the hall yelling “wow…I’m so tired…my back is killing me…i’m so overworked…” That was pretty funny…and made me giggle a bit. Other than that….it’s just me…and my GC promotional information…and a huge frappuccino to keep me awake. More to come…

American Idol…Why!?!

March 15th, 2007

So I’m a big American Idol fan…actually huge would be a more appropriate term. This season has been just as exciting as the rest. I sit anxiously awaiting each Tuesday and Wednesday night…just to see what will happen! (Ok…I’m not that addicted…but I sure do love it!) Anyway…I’m super bummed about the people that are getting voted off this year. How on earth does Sanjia (or however you spell it) keep getting to stay?! He’s not terrible…but he’s certainly not as good as the rest. I do have some favorites this year…and Melinda Doolittle is at the top. Seriously, this girl can sing! I’m amazed that she was discovered before this. I have no doubt that she’ll get a record contract…even if she doesn’t win. Anyway…enough about that. It’s a quiet day here at the office…so I should be getting some things done.

Adios!

Amazing Weekend

March 13th, 2007

This past weekend was just what I needed….

Friday Night (aka. pizza Friday), Jared and I started a new tradition. We’re going to make homemade pizza on Friday’s…and try lots of different crusts and toppings. This weekend was our own rendition…next weekend is going to be our attempt at Papa John’s. We watched several episodes of Six Feet Under while we munched on pizza. We also had to take our friend’s dog for a walk (they’re on vacation). So went over and took Oliver (that’s his name) out for a bit (since the weather was beautiful). After that, we stopped by DQ for Dilly Bars….yummmm. We got home, and ended up falling asleep….and we slept, and slept, and slept….for a good 12 hours. Yay for much needed rest and relaxation!

Saturday we took a lovely long walk and then my mom suprised me and showed up in Greenville to shop for antiques. Jared had praise band, so I went with her and shopped and walked for most of the day. I hate being so far from my family, so it was nice to be surprised by my mom!

Sunday we had church, and then we headed over to Fairview Heights to run a few errands. We had lunch at Bandana’s (yummy BBQ), and went to the mall. Jared needed to get sized for a tux (he’s in a wedding next month), and I needed to get my rings cleaned. One of the stones in my engagement ring was cracked, so they have to send it in to replace the stone. (Yay for lifetime diamond warranties!) The rest of the day was pretty relaxing…more walks…and more just being with my hubby.

I love weekends!
