So Jared and I finally managed to get away for a weekend all to ourselves. Even though we both love lounging around our house, it was definitely a nice change of pace to get away. Here’s some highlights…
Friday-
Drove to Indianapolis, and stayed the night downtown.
Saturday-
Woke up to a yummy breakfast and decided to head over to the Children’s museum to relive our childhood. (Great choice!!)
Left Indianapolis around 4:00 and headed to Cincinnati.
Checked into our humasive hotel, The Millinium….which was a-maz-ing! (Seriously, it was one of the coolest hotel rooms EVER.)
Walked to the riverfront and just wandered around enjoying the great weather and beautiful sites.
Went to eat at the Montgommery Inn (which supposedly has world-famous Ribs….we agreed…somewhat.)
Walked along the riverfront back to our hotel (at a somewhat brisk pace…since we didn’t know if we were in a bad part of the city or not!)
Sunday-
Slept in…yes!
Went to see the Cubs play the Reds….walked to the stadium.
Ate delicious ball park food (brats, dogs, ice cream…mmmmmm).
Sat RIGHT behind the Cubs dugout. (We got autographs, great pictures, and sat in the best seats EVER!)
Watched the Cubs loose….sad day.
Ate skyline chili (like chili mac from Steak n Shake).
Had a great drive home.
Gotta love great weekends!

So the most amazing little stray cat came into our lives about a week ago….and he decided to stick around. (Probably because we put out food and water for him.) We don’t have any room for him…and besides…he’d overcome our current human to cat ratio. (A ratio that we’re quite fond of.) In the meantime we’ve name him Sgt. Pepper (as we name all of our pets after Beatles tunes). We call him Sarge for short…cause he’s such a crazy little guy. (We also thought a Beatles song from the later 60’s would be appropriate, as he brings us mushrooms as peace offerings…seriously…he leaves them on our porch.) We called the humane society to see about getting him a home, but they don’t have any room for kittens. So that leaves us with Sarge…living on our front porch. If you want an amazing and quite lovable kitten…let us know. He’s probably 4 months old or so…and he’s a gray tabby. Answers to the name of Sarge….and the sound of cat food being dished up. Anyway…I need to get to bed. I have my first college fair of the season tomorrow…so I need to get some sleep. Adios!

The weekend is almost over….and Monday will technically be here in 40 minutes (yuck!). What a great weekend it was though. I took Friday off from work (a freebie day off…since work has been insane lately). I invited my mom down for a couple of days…to shop, hang out, and work around the house a bit. Thursday night I cleaned like a mad woman…to make sure the house was ready for company. Friday morning I was up early, because mom was planning to get here around 8:00 or 8:30. She got here at 8:30 on the dot…and so began my wonderful weekend. We talked for a bit, and then we were off to shop at all of the local antique and craft shops. I got a few more Americana things for the kitchen…which is really looking good (or at least I think it is). Mom got a few new things for house too. (We’re both into shabby-chic antique things.) That night mom worked on making me some new cushions for my wicker set. The front porch is looking really nice these days too. I need to get my fall decorations out soon…and then the porch will really look nice. Saturday was basically a work day. Mom sewed the rest of the pillows and we all worked on the back entry. We painted and prepped for more painting. We painted the kitchen door with chalkboard paint…which looks really neat. However, we went to buy chalk at Wal-Mart today…and they didn’t have any. All we found were dry-erase markers…what ever happened to chalk boards?! Mom left late Saturday…and we watched the Brady Bunch Movie. (Yes…I realize it’s probably on the list of worst movies ever…but it’s still funny.) Today we went to church, ate BBQ for lunch…and got a few more painting supplies to finish up our weekend project. We painted all of the trim and one side of the back door. It doesn’t look fantastic yet…but it’s getting there. I’m just ready to finish it up and put some decorations back on the walls. Anywya…it’s late and I need to get some sleep. More updates later….adios!
