So the weekend’s almost here…in 5 minutes I’m free! (Not that I don’t like my job…but wow…I’m beyond ready for another weekend.) I think we’re going to set off some fireworks with the Dugan’s tonight…which should be fun. Nothing like illegal fireworks to make a night more worthwhile. Tomorrow night we might try to catch a fireworks show out at the lake…but we’ll see how the weather treats us. More than anything…I’m just excited to sleep in and and catch up on some house work. Oh…random thought…go to DQ and try to the new Monster Cookie blizzard…AMAZING! Jared and I have collectively eaten around 12 of them in the past 2 weeks. (Hardly a waste of money in my opinion.) Anyway…quick update on our kitties. They love lounging around in the bathtub together. Not with water….but it’s still hillarious. They curl up near the faucet and spoon…and then they drink out of this little cup we put in there. Wow…I’m a crazy cat person….goodness. Anyway…the time is now 4:00…on the dot…and I’m off for a fantabulous weekend! Adios!
It’s Tuesday at work…but it sure does feel like a Monday. I’m sure that has everything to do with the fact that Jared and I stayed up entirely too late last night…drinking smoothies and watching Tivo. We had a great weekend…full of lots of craziness. Friday evening we drove to Louisville with the Dugan’s…to help them move. They said “Free BBQ” and we said “Heck Yes!” Anyway…it really was a fun time. We spent most of Saturday finishing up packing things into boxes…and putting everything into the U-Haul. By 4:00 we were back on the road again…headed for Greenville. The trip home was fast…and we even got to make a pit stop in Indiana…before we got to the Illinois border. Celebration Fireworks was calling out our name…and we had to respond. (We responded by buying $40 of illegal fireworks…yay for bottle rockets!) Anyway…Sunday we helped the Dugan’s unpack a little bit…and then tried to finish cleaning up around our house. The kitchen is almost done….just 2 more cabinet doors that need to be put up…and a few paint touch ups. I finally got the new curtains up too…and I think they look super cute. Sunday night we also decided to cut Jared’s hair. Well I decided to at least…and he went along with it. We bought clippers last month…but we hadn’t gotten the desire to try them out. His hair is super short now…but it looks pretty good. I guess next time will be easier. And hey…it’s just hair…it’ll grow back! Anyway…I better wrap this up. I have some things to fax for work. Adios!
I think we’ve pretty much mastered the whole cookout thing…I can’t even count how many we’ve hosted over the past few months. It’s great though…Jared loves grilling…and I love having people over. That being said…we had yet another fun cookout last night. Jake Dugan’s been staying with us this week….as he just started his job and they haven’t been able to close on their new house yet. So Jake, Lindsay, Mandy and Layla came over for some dogs and brats. We had a lot of fun just eating and hanging out….we really do have great friends. I’m really excited for Jake and Lindsay to be living here….it’ll be nice to have another girl around to chat with…and I know Jared’s excited to have someone to play x-box games with. After Lindsay and Mandy left….we ate ice cream cake and watched King of Queens reruns on Tivo. I’m seriously addicted to that stupid show….I can’t get enough of it. Anyway….I need to wrap this up and get back to work…as usual. Adios!
So at last…I’ve got some time to give an update on our life! (Aren’t you excited?!) Much has happened since the last update, but I’ll try to be quick about it.
1. Vacation=Amazing! We finally got away for a week out of Greenville…and out of the state…yes! Vacation wasn’t incredibly fancy this year…but it was awesome. We stayed for a few days in Nashville with our good friends, the Shandley’s. Nashville’s great, but I don’t think I’d want to live there. We spent a night in Opryland and then did all of the typical tourist stuff. The best part was our visit to the Ryman Auditorium (the original Grand Ol’ Opry House). We got to stand in the same spot as Johnny Cash…and Minnie Pearl…and Patsy Cline. It was…in one word…fantabulous. We also headed down to Georgia to visit Nicole and Steve Cox. (Here’s my quick shout-out to you, Nicole!) I haven’t actually gotten to hang out with her for more than like 2 hours in years….and it was way overdue! We had fun hanging out and playing games and just relaxing, but we did some tourist stuff too. Jared spent most of an entire day at Guitar Center drooling over drumsets while Steve was at work (he works there)…and Nicole and I hit up IKEA and some other fun stores. We went to Six Flags over Georgia one day…and it was way better than Six Flags St. Louis. They have double the coasters…so it doubly fun! We also went to the World of Coca Cola. If you go to Atlanta…then you must go….and try to the Apple soda from Mexico. Anyway…point being…vacation was fantastic. (Though we did manage to bring back some nasty allergies with us…but we’re getting better!)
2. Wedding. I was in a wedding the first day of our vacation..down in Nashville. It was so much fun! Our dresses were great…and the wedding was beautiful. I think that some day…I’d love to be a wedding planner…I forgot how much fun wedding planning is.
3. Cats. Maxwell and Eleanor are getting along now. It’s been a long first few weeks for them…but somehow…while we were gone….they decided to get along. We had a friend babysit them…and he gave us updates all week. They’re so cute together now. They’re always together…and I’m pretty sure they’re plotting to take over the world. (Or at least our house.)
4. Birthday. Jared turned the big 2-7 yesterday. We had a nice day. We went to see cars and I gave him his gifts. (A new smoker grill and a Dremel….he was pleased.) We had ice cream cake too…I’m always looking for an excuse to buy an ice cream cake!
Anyway…I’ll wrap this up for now….I really should be catching up with work! More later….adios!
