Quick Update

May 18th, 2006

It’s been awhile since I last posted…so I figured I should give a quick recap of what’s been going on lately. This past weekend was amazing…so here’s a quick list of why…

-Staying over with Steven and Norma for 2 nights…we definitely miss being closer to our families.
-Cubs game at Wrigley Field…great as always…even though it was 40 degrees and raining most of the time. (We had AMAZING seats…totally made the bitter cold rain worth it!)
-Pizza at Giordanno’s in downtown Chicago. (Ate far too much…as usual!)
-Shopping on Michigan Avenue.
-A whole day of hanging out with my mom all by myself!
-Lunch at Avanti’s.
-Homecooked food by mom.
-Seeing my goddaughter.
-Finding out that I get to be an aunt again!!! (Geof and Lauri are expecting in December!!!)

All in all…it was an amazing weekend. Things have been a bit crazy the rest of this week. We just moved our offices around at work…so things are majorly unorganized. I’m getting used to it though. I get new office furniture next week…so that’ll be nice. Anyway…I won’t make this any longer…and I’ll post more later. Adios!

Bonfire Fun

May 10th, 2006

I forgot how much I love campfires….and the joys of eating a gooey s’more. Last night Jared and Alan consolidated our sticks and brush…and got a fire going in our firepit. It was great….almost like we were kids again. The smell of the fire…the marshmallow stuck to my face…the happy glow….all great! We also got the sticks cleared out of our yards…which is equally fantastic. We’re well on our way to having a somewhat decent yard! One of Jared’s friends brought his little boy over for some s’mores…and it was so much fun to watch him experience his first campfire and his first s’more. He was pretty confused at first…but then he caught on and couldn’t get enough. He was most amazed at the way marshmallows catch on fire if left near the flame too long…we quickly encouraged him not to do that. (3 year + flaming good on a stick = not so good!) Anyway…it was a great night…and I can’t wait for another!

BEST DAY EVER!!!

May 9th, 2006

Ok…so Jared and I are seriously having one of the best days ever. This morning I just found out (at my yearly review) that I got a promotion AND a great raise. PLUS…Jared found out this afternoon that his job was passed through the Board of Trustees as a new position…so he’s been hired on full-time with a raise as well! GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD!!!

Kitten

May 5th, 2006

So today Jared and I took a little trip out to meet a kitten. We’re looking at adopting a hot kitten friend for our dear Maxwell. The president of the Bond County Humane Society invited us out to her home (out on the lake none-the-less). We met Emily (we’ll be changing her name to something more Beatles-esque)…and she’s beautiful! I’m slightly fearful that we’re turning into crazy cat people, but my thought is this….as long as the feline population in my house doesn’t out number the human population…we’ll be ok. So on May 19th (or sometime near then) we’ll be welcome Eleanor Rigby into our household. She’s a snowshoe kitten…and she’s the cutest cat I’ve ever seen (well…next to Maxwell). Anyway…I’m excited…yay!
