We gave Maxwell a bath the other day and noticed that he has some strange habits when it comes to trying to rinse him off.

Where art thou drum shop?

So we had a fabulous weekend of relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. Friday night we snuggled up to watch “When Harry Met Sally”….one of my all time favorites. Saturday we slept in until I had to wake up for my hair appointment, but after that I watched tv, did some minor work around the house, and ate snacks all day long. I haven’t had a Saturday like that in quite some time. At first I felt bad for not really doing anything all day…but I got over it pretty quickly. I watched like 100 episodes of “Sell This House” on HGTV….it was awesome…and another indicator that I’m addicted to home decor shows.

As far as Sunday goes…Jared and I had quite the adventure. We got up and went to church…as usual. We had plans to check out this little drum shop that Jared’s been dying to visit. Anyway…he had some directions (lots of twists and turns through St. Louis). So we’re on our way to the shop…and we realize that we’re going the wrong direction…so we get our act together and finally get the right street. We twist and turn around some more…and finally (after what seems like hours) get to this little drum shop. Something was wrong…no cars in the parking lot…no lights on inside….yeah…it was closed. However…the website clearly stated that they were open for 1:00-6:00 on Sundays. After driving around St. Louis for what seemed like an eternity…we find that the stop isn’t even open. Needless to say…we were pretty mad. So…to make it all better….we went to get some scrumtrulescent BBQ at Smokey Bones. Though it didn’t make up for lost time….it did make my tummy full of delicious pulled pork. We stopped by the mall to get my wedding rings inspected (part of some warranty thing we’ve got)….and we stopped to get some groceries on the way home.

It really was a good weekend….full of some wrong turns…some yummy BBQ…lots of HGTV…and sleep….gooood times.

Poor Max

So I couldn’t resist sharing this quick like story about Max. Jared got home from work today around 5:00 and said he could hear what sounded like Max…crying. He was concerned that Max wasn’t there sitting at the door like he usually is. So he started down the stairs to the basement and heard the little cries again. He checked under the stairs (sometimes Max likes to hide down there). Needless to say…no Max there. No Max behind the dryer. No Max in the drums. No Max near his litter box. Then…Jared saw something. Low and behold….a set of sheets in a laundry basket started to move and cry. Jared moved the sheets a bit…and there was our little Maxwell…completely tagled up in a set of sheets, waiting to get washed. We’re not quite sure how long he’d been there….we didn’t go home for lunch today. The poor little guy must have curled up for a nap…only to awaken to the snarls of a set of sheets. Anyway…he’s doing just fine now…and we had the laugh from event. In fact, Max is sitting on my lap right now…and I’m pretty sure he wants to say something….

Max says….

“gdhjvfjfhjfhgddgjmdkkdxjdxshhhhdvfhnjmvm”

I’m not quite sure what that means…but I’m sure it’s something special.

Goodnight!

What’s going on with Ginny!?

So I’m terrible at keeping up with my blog lately…time is just getting away from me. Lots of things have been going on though, so I’ll give you a recap of this past week.

1. Got sick last weekend and had a not-so-fantastic cold all week long.
2. Traveled across the state to several community colleges to meet with prospective GC students (one of my favorite parts of this job).
3. Watched American Idol and 24 religiously (we’re addicted…seriously).
4. Discovered that Max now likes to think that the area under the basement stairs is his very own litterbox. (Boy was he wrong!)
5. Bought stain and sealer for my old childhood desk…so I can make it all pretty again and use it in my den. (Now I’m just waiting for warmer weather so I can stain it in the garage.)
6. Had a minor spring cleaning session to get our house back in order. We decided to put a desk and bookshelf in the den and we also switched the guest room around a little bit.
7. Started to get our yard ready for spring. (Jared went nuts with the leaf blower and I bought some flowers to plant once it warms up again.)
8. Had my bestest college buddy, Nicole, and her husband over for supper. (They live in Georgia now…I miss them!)
9. Ate some yummy brats ala Jared style…..yummmmmmm.
10. Niemerg’s pie (compliments of Nicole and Steve).
11. RENT at the Fox theatre….woo-hoo! (That’s like one of the highlights of the year…it was amazing!)
12. Thanks to RENT…I have now decided to move to New York and live as a bohemian in a flat on the lower east side of Manhattan for the rest of my life. (Well…not really…but I definitely contemplated it for awhile on Sunday night!) Maybe I’ll work as an AIDS activist some day…that would be amazing.
13. Watched a documentary on the making of RENT…breathtaking.
14. Snuggled with my cat and hubby while eating jelly beans and watching silly shows on VH1.

Good times…..

Where did this week go?!

Seriously, life really seems to be speeding by right now. This past weekend was great, but it was gone before it even started. Friday night we had Jamie and the Morford’s over for dinner. We had so much food…and it was great! Jared busted out the grill and we did BBQ chicken, hashbrown casserole, buttery corn, baked beans, rolls, and hot fudge cake with ice cream. It was a nice feast for all of us. It was just nice to relax with friends. We also watched Walk the Line. (Which I am currently very obsessed with!) I could watch the movie every day and never get sick of Joaquin Pheonix singing “Get Rhythm.” I liken this to my phase in high school…when I watched Dirty Dancing every single day for like 3 weeks straight…or when I watched Billy Madison every weekend with Amy for like 4 months straight. (Only this movie is actually quality.) Anyway, Saturday was Scholarship Award Day on campus. Even though it’s an early day for me…I still love being on campus and seeing all of the possible students. Sunday night Steven and Norma stopped by on their way home from St. Louis. I made my mom’s lasagna for the very first time…and it actually turned out really well! We had a nice supper just talking and catching up. (It made me wish we lived closer to our family.) The work week has flown by…which is both good and bad. I’ve gotten a lot done this week, but there’s always more that I should get done. Last night we had small group and we played games and just had a fun night. I learned how to play Bunko…and I’m now addicted. (Silly dice games!) I definitely didn’t win…but I had a fun time trying. We had lots of snacks (as usual) and the company was great. (I seriously love our small group…God is too good!) Anyway, that brings us to now…my short “blog writing” break is now over and I must get back to work. Adios!

Kitten Adventures

I haven’t posted much about Max lately (or anything for that matter!), so I thought I’d share one of our most recent adventures as a cat owner. This past weekend I was cleaning in the upstairs bathroom. I was mopping the floor when I noticed what looked like a little tooth. I was intrigued so I picked it up…and sure enough…it was a little tooth. Knowing that it wasn’t from my mouth…or Jared’s….I assumed it was from Max. I had no idea that cats lost their baby teeth! I seriously thought my cat was dying or that he’d ran into the bathtub again and knocked it out. He’s been teething on everything though…it’s pretty funny. (It’s not like he’s got hands to put in his mouth and wiggle his tooth out.) Also, the other night we were bored and we decided to make Max some foil boots. FUN! If you’ve got a cat…and you need some quick excitement added to your life…put foil booties on your cat. (Get your camera out!)
On a serious note, Jared and I got bikes this past weekend. We’ve been riding them all over town and to work most days. I just put my high heels in my little backpack and ride to work in my tennies. It’s actually a lot of fun and I’ve really been enjoying it. Hopefully this a good exercise routine that we’ll stick with. So far so good!
