halloween

admin October 31st, 2005

So it’s Halloween (and Preview Day at Greenville College). Right now I’m supposed to be mediating an Information Technology meeting for our Preview Students. As you can see…I’m hard at work! I can’t wait for work to be over. It’s a really raining day and I’m so sleepy. I won’t be sleeping for awhile though. We’re dressing up and handing out candy…woohoo! We haven’t been able to give out candy since we’ve been married (most kiddies don’t visit apartment complexes…haha). So this year, since our apartment is basically a house, we’ll get to give out candy. I’m dressing up as a cheerleader, and I’m not sure what Jared’s decided on yet. Our porch is all Halloween-y and fun. We carved our pumpkins over the weekend too…and they’re fantastic. Mine’s just a silly face, but Jared’s is a “Cubs” pumpkin. So….if you’re in Greenville and you’re trick-or-treating…stop by the Smith household! Ok…gotta go. Bye!

Ok…so I must be really bored!

HOUSE!!!

admin October 22nd, 2005

So….my brother Greg came down with the nephews today to inspect our prospective house. He checked all sorts of things that I’d never even thought about checking. (Hence the reason for his inspection!) Anyway, after a tour of the house and lots of inspecting every nook and cranny….Greg gave us the “go-ahead”. Soooo….WE’RE GOING TO BE HOMEOWNERS!!!! It’s still so weird to think about. I can’t believe that in less than a week, we decided to look at houses, make an offer, AND buy a house! How insane is that?! We’re so excited though. Our closing day is November 17th, and we take possession of it 10 days later. So, we’re moving in a month! The new house is just down the road from our apartment, which will make the move a bit easier. I can’t wait to spread out a bit more and be able to have more people over at one time. We’ll also be moved in right at the time I start decorating for Christmas….which is great. I’ll have my own house to decorate for Christmas this year! Anywho…I’ll stop about the house for now. Just had to get excited and share the news!

Another update

admin October 21st, 2005

So…if the inspection goes well tomorrow…Jared and I will be homeowners! AHHHH!!! We put an offer on the house, they accepted….and now we just have to get it inspected (which my big brother will be doing). We just wanted to make sure there wasn’t something we were missing (like bad wiring, no insulation…etc.) Needless to say, we’re soooo excited (but nervous too). I’ll give an update at some point when I get a chance. I have to get to bed though. Jared’s running a 5K here at the college tomorrow morning and I have to get up early to watch him run. Greg and the nephews are going to be here around 10:00…and we’re looking at the house around 10:30. So…off to bed I go!

Houses

admin October 16th, 2005

AHHH! Tomorrow we’re actually going to the bank to see what kind of house we can actually afford. We found a house that we absolutely love, and we’re wanting to see if it would fit in our budget. It’s super cute and a great starter home with a fantastic yard. So…please keep us in your prayers. We’re hoping something works out, but we’ll be ok with apartment living for a little bit longer. So….we’ll see!

admin October 15th, 2005

Wow, this week went by really quickly. Work was really busy on Friday. We had over 10 visits and there were only 2 counselors there (I being one of them). So I was busy with lots of meetings and campus tours, but it wasn’t too bad. I was excited to get home at the end of the day though. Yesterday was also exciting for another reason. Jared and I had another first. We went to look at a house for the first time. We’ve been crunching numbers, and now that we both have good jobs, we can finally start thinking about buying. I love our apartment, but I hate that we pay every month and won’t ever see that money again and we’ll never own it. So, we took a big step and set up a time to look at a house. It was so much fun! The house was adorable, everything I’d want in a first home. (I’m not sure if I think that because it’s the only house we’d seen!) It was nice though, plenty of room, lots of storage, and a great yard. The realtor was really nice too, she helped us with any question we had and even gave us some other questions to think about. We set up 3 more houses to look at today with her as well. I don’t know that we’ll get anything anytime soon, but it can’t hurt to look. It’s at least helping us to realize what we do and don’t want in a house. (Not to mention giving us something very exciting to look foward to!) I guess we’re growing up or something! Anywho, I need to close this up. Time for laundry…oh boy! I’ll update more later. Oh…one more thing…Tuesday is Paul McCartney…AHHHHH!!!!

admin October 12th, 2005

Ok, time for a real update. (This one’s for you Nicole!) Today’s been rather blah. Well actually not blah, but not the greatest. We’ll start with last night. After work Jenn and I went out for Chinese and to a movie. (Jared was busy working the college telethon.) The food was great and the movie was the best I’ve seen in quite awhile. (We saw “In Her Shoes”.) Jared and I hung out for a bit after the movie and I got to bed early. That was great until I woke up with what I’m pretty sure was food poisoning (or really really icky stomach flu) around 3:30 a.m. I seriously thought I was going to die…I couldn’t breath and I was shaking. Jared woke up and sat with me. I eventually fell asleep on the bathroom floor…and he did too. I woke up about an hour later and got back into bed. I woke up alright this morning, but wasn’t too sure about going to work. I didn’t want to push it. So I called in sick and slept most of the day.
I also got a haircut this week. It’s really different than what I usually get done, but I’m really excited about my “new-do”. In other good news, Jared and I are now officially members at Metro (our church). It’s so exciting to see this new part in our life come together. We absolutely love going to church there. I really don’t have much else to update about. I’ve been crazy busy with traveling to college fairs for work. I spent last week in Chicago, which was a good time. I always enjoy traveling, but I always miss Jared when I’m gone. Anywho…I’m going to end this now with promises of updating again soon!

I should be sleeping….
