So I haven’t posted in a week…whoops! I decided to quickly get an entry in before work gets crazy today. This week fall sports teams are moving in and starting practice. So that means…new students to meet! It’s so exciting to see new faces on campus…that I helped bring here. I love this job!

Jared and I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night Jared finally called a guy to come and pick up his old car. They came and towed it away and gave us $35. It was actually really sad to see it go. Jared’s had that beast since his junior year of high school (almost 10 years ago). We quickly cleaned it out (there was so much stuff in there!) and had it ready to be taken away. We took lots of pictures of it…which hopefully we’ll get those posted on the picture page at some point. So now there’s a big space in front of our house where it used to sit. It’s going to be tough seeing my car go as well, but I’m sure I’ll get over that as soon as I see our loaded Grand Prix. Yay for new cars! Since they gave us $35 for the car, we decided to go out to eat. We went to Farmer’s in Highland and stuffed ourselves silly. I had some super-yummy fried porkchops with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was sooooo good.

Saturday morning I had to get up early to drive to Belleville for Mary Kay training. Yes…I now sell Mary Kay. Don’t worry though…I’m not quitting my job at the college and I don’t want a pink Cadillac. I just wanted to be able to get my Mary Kay product for a better price and sell to several others. So anyway, I went to my training on Saturday. It was fun. I have all of my start-up things, so I guess I can start selling to anyone who wants Mary Kay stuff. If you want a facial…I have stuff to do that as well. (Let me know if you want any of that!) After my training I stopped through Fairview Heights and did some shopping. It felt good to be at the mall! I actually got some pretty good deals. As I was leaving though, I noticed that it was storming outside and sirens were going off. Apparently there were tornado warnings. So needless to say, I decided not to leave right away. I bought a book from Walden’s and got a bagle at Panera and waited it out. About an hour later I got to leave.

Sunday we went to church (Jared got to play in praise band again this week). The service was great as always. After church we went to see a movie (Must Love Dogs) and ate at Steak-n-Shake. Both were fantastic. The movie was a definite chick flick, but quite wonderful at the same time. And of course Steak-n-Shake was awesome. We had stayed in Edwardsville after church because we attended a membership class that night after supper. We love our new church and have really felt like it’s the place we need to be. So we’re taking the steps towards becoming members there.

So it was a great weekend and now I’m back at work. It’s going to be a busy week (I’ve already had a visit this morning and my phone’s ringing off the hook). It’s all worth it! Oh…quickly…on another note. I’ve now read all of that books that Nicholas Sparks has written…and I don’t know what to do. I need to find a new author apparently. Any suggestions!?

So another weekend has come and gone. Friday night was rather uneventful. I cleaned around the house and caught up on laundry. We grilled chicken, potatoes and corn on the cobb…which was yummy as always. It was relaxing to not do anything for once. Saturday morning we got ready and headed off to Springfield for Danielle’s baptism. It was a really nice day. The baptism was lovely and being a godmother is pretty cool. She looked so cute in her little white dress that Jared and I got her. We had lunch and dinner at Greg and Nora’s…both cooked on the grill. We stuffed ourselves silly, but it was well worth it. We had ice cream cake from DQ later on in the evening…which was fantastic. (I think I could easily have eaten the entire cake.) We got the chance the swim too, which was nice. It was a warm day, and the swimming was much appreciated. (I wonder if our landlords would like to build a pool in our yard?!) We hung out with the family for quite awhile before finally heading home. We made it back to Greenville by midnight. We managed to wake up with just enough time to quickly get ready and head off to church. I love our new church! We’re going to a membership class next week, and we’re really excited about that. The church is huge, but people know who we are…which is such a blessing. Jared loves playing in praise band and we love our small group. Just when we’d just about given up on our new church hunt, God really blessed us with Metro. So yeah…went to church…and came back home. We were pretty much lazy all day once again. Jared went and played ball with Alan while i went to Value City. 60% off sales…I couldn’t miss that! I got a great new pair of shiny, hot-pink heals. They’re fantastic. I really need to get over my shoe obession. We ordered out for pizza for supper, which we hadn’t done in awhile. So we munched on pizza and watched the Cub’s game. So that brings us to today. I’m back at work and it’s been a pretty good day so far. My phone’s been ringing off the hoo, which is also ok. (That means I’ve been doing my job!) We got a few new e-mails of car pictures from the dealership. One day closer to getting a new car! Yay! I need to get back to work…so I can take my lunch break. Adios!

Cars, VH1, lots of sleep…

Ok, so Wednesday night we went to look at cars in Vandalia (at Hosick Motors). They were so unbelievably nice to us. We test drove several Grand Prix’s and a Bonneville. We immediately fell in love with a 2005 Grand Prix. They let us take the Grand Prix home for the night and they kept the good ol’ Taurus overnight to do some estimates on it. We also went to a new Bible study that night as well. We love our new church and we’re actually excited about the possibility of being members there. Anyway, so we went to Bible study (small group). The Murphy’s invited us and it was great. We were the youngest couple there, but it was so much fun. I can’t wait to go back again. It was relaxed and inviting…which is something we’ve been praying about. It’s awesome to see how God works in our lives…little by little.

Last night we took the Grand Prix back to the dealership and talked things over with Matt (our dealer guy). We told him what exactly we wanted in a Grand Prix (color, rims, options, etc.) and he promised to find us one with just that. Seriously…great people at that place. So Matt’s on the hunt for our new car, and we’re anxiously awaiting some results. Buying this car is a big step, but one that needs to happen and one we’re most excited about!

After more car buying adventures, we headed home where I immediately flipped the tv on to VH1 so I could watch “Kept”. Ok, so this might look like a dumb show, but it’s awesome! I don’t know how Jared and I got sucked into watching it, but we did, and I’m ok with that. It was the series finale though, so no more “Kept” for us. I suppose it’s for the best! I also watched several episodes of “House Hunters” on HG tv. I seriously need to stop watching that show. It only makes me want to buy house that much more. Our apartment is great and I need to focus on that!

Ok, time to go. I’ve got lots of work to get done before we can head off for the weekend. Adios!

It’s been a pretty good week so far. We’ve been starting our search for a new car…yes…the Taurus has to go. She’s been a good car, but I’m ready to move on. The hard part…is deciding what the new “Gling-Mobile” will be. We test drove a Grand Am yesterday, only a year old, and it was nice. I really want something with less miles than what it has though. They’ll give us a decent price on it though, but I think we’re going to pass on that one. I really want a PT Cruiser, but Jared doesn’t think that’s the best idea. Sure they’re silly looking and they don’t have much cargo space…but I still want one! So that might be an option. Tonight we’re going to test drive a couple new Grand Prix’s….which should be fun. I love Pontiac and I love Grand Prix’s…so this could be good. We’ll see how that goes. Last night we also watched the move “National Treasure”. I was skeptical going into it, but it was actually really good. Lots of adventure and good times had by all. I highly recommend watching it, even though it’s your typical fun-times adventure flick. Anyway, I need to be working and not typing in my blog. So back to work I must go! :-)

Good Weekend

So this weekend was awesome. Friday night Jared and I decided to treat ourselves to a movie. It was great to get out of the house after a busy day at work. I made chicken alfreado for dinner (which was quite yummy) and we headed off to see Wedding Crashers. Ok, so it was a little dirty during some parts, but it was soooo funny! It was even funnier to see all of the senior citizens in theatre cracking up at all the dirty parts. (Yes, that’s right, Senior Citizens.) We were the youngest people in theatre, by like 50 years. It was great though. After the movie we headed back home to finish cleaning up the house. My parents came to visit on Saturday. They were here most of the day. We went out for lunch and shopped most of the afternoon. They love antique shops, so we hit up all of the local ones, as well as Value City. The evening was spent chatting with my mom as Jared and dad watched the Cubs game. I miss seeing them all of the time, but I don’t want to live in Emden. We went out for dinner at one of the local diner’s and then they had to leave. Jared and I watched the movie PS after they left. It was a weird one, but actually pretty good. It was about an admissions counselor who has an affair with an incoming student. Who just does that?! Anyway, it was funny, because I’m an admissions counselor. Sunday morning we went to church and stopped at Quizno’s for lunch and picked up a few groceries and some film we’d dropped off last week. We spent the afternoon being lazy, which was awesome!!! We snacked all evening and watched the new version of Alfie. It was a weird one too, but we like it. Yay for Netflix. Anywho, I need to get back to work. I have work on putting schedules together for several students. Adios!
