Good times away from Greenville…

admin March 28th, 2005

Jared and I spent our Easter weekend back in Emden/Bloomington with our family. It was so good to get away and be around everyone there. Thursday night we hit the road and stopped in Springfield to see Greg, Nora and the boys. We ate supper there and they asked us to be the godparents for baby #3. Of course we said yes!! The baby is due May 6th…and it’s a girl. How exciting!!! We headed up to Emden after that and bummed around the rest of the night before going to bed. Friday we slept in until 11:00 or so…and finally got up and got ready. We spent the day in Bloomington. We went to Samuel Music (where I bought a saxophone book to entice me to play again). We also stopped by the mall and got Jared some new running shoes and had my wedding rings cleaned and inspected. Good Friday service at Vale that night…and then we spent several hours at Steven and Norma’s house…which was good fun. I love having them as family…such awesome people. Saturday we slept in again. That morning we headed over to grandmas house to help get ready for Sunday dinner. She took us out to eat at the Emden Cafe afterwords….yay for greasy small town restaurants! That afternoon my mom and I set out to make lots of cards and other stamping projects…it was so much fun! I love hanging out with mom! Jared went to see his mom that evening after the Illinois game. (Talk about one tense game!) Sunday we went to Vale for church and had lunch at grandma’s with the family. Good times! As always we returned back to Greenville…with great hopes of moving back to the Bloomington area some day once again!

And the countdown begins…

So I’m no longer a student, which means I have no spring break. BOGUS! Yeah, even when students and professors aren’t here, the college is still open. I do however, get tomorrow off for Good Friday. A 3-day weekend will be nice. We’re heading up to see our family for the weekend, which is exciting. We haven’t been up that way since early January. I’m just ready to be away from Greenville for the weekend. I love it here, but sometimes you just need to get away. Who’d have ever thought that a visit to your parents house could be considered a vacation? I’m super excited for Easter Dinner too. We’re having it at Grandma Cox’s this year. Grandma made us lots of new fancy pillows for our couches…so I’m excited to pick those up as well. I’m also excited to dig through my old dress-up clothes bin from when I was a kid. I thought to myself the other day, “Self…I bet there’s lots of cool clothes and shoes in there that would actually fit you now.” So I’m going on a treasure hunt to find some vintage goodies in the attic. (Yes, I’ve watched way too many episodes of Sex in the City and I’m now convinced that I can wear a wide variety of weirdo clothes…thanks to Carrie Bradshaw.) Oh, in other news…Jared and I watched the movie “Ray” the other night. Go and watch it…it’s amazing!!! Next movies on the list…”Little Black Book,” “Rushmore,” and “Ocean’s Eleven”. Anyway, I best get back to work so I can get out of here on time this evening. Adios!!

Good Weekend

admin March 21st, 2005

Ah yes…what a great weekend it was! Friday night we snuggled in for a night of lounging around eating junk food and watching a movie. The movie of choice was a fantabulous 80’s flick…”Better of Dead.” We’re both big John Cusack fans…so it was great. Saturday we slept in and cleaned around the house for most of the morning and afternoon. Dishes were washed and finally put away, windows were opened and washed, floors were scrubbed and waxed….we’re living in one clean apartment now! Not that it isn’t usually clean…it’s just really really clean right now. Saturday night we ate yummy pasta and cheesy garlic bread (made by me) and watched “Bubbo Ho-tep”. I have no words for that movie. You must go watch it…and quickly…and report back to me immediately! Sunday we went to church, Sunday School and headed back home for lunch and more cleaning and organizing of the house. Rob and Emily Hager stopped by, which was good fun. Then Beth and Jack stopped by too…even more fun! It was great to see some of our good buddies from college. We went to eat at Subway with everyone and returned home to enjoy a relaxing night looking up vacation plans for our anniversary. All in all…it was a great weekend. :-)

Oh yes…it’s another survey!!

The Grudge?

admin March 15th, 2005

Ok, so last night Jared and I finally made the effort to start working out again. We drug our lazy bums over to the sports annex and worked out. It felt so good….why’d we ever stop? Well it felt good then…but today my abs are killing me. I will ingnore their feeble attempts to keep me from the gym…and I will prevail! I will have a six-pack once again!
Last night Jared and I watched “The Grudge.” We were really excited to watch a movie that would scare the poop out of us. However…this movie didn’t do that. It was supposed to be scarier than “The Ring”…but it wasn’t. It was just weird and all over the place. So to all horror movie buffs…”The Grudge” just doesn’t do it.
Well this is going to be a short update. I need to get back to work. Adios!

Sleep….Sleep….and more Sleep

admin March 13th, 2005

Well the weekend’s almost over….mostly because I slept through half of it. Friday night Jared and I headed over to Fairview Heights to celebrate a much needed weekend at Lotawata Creek (yummy food!). They have HUGE sandwhiches there…so we split a humongous bacon cheeseburger and a massive plate full of fries covered in melted cheese, bacon and a green onions. It was sooooo good! After that we headed over to a furniture store to look around and drool over the furniture we wished we had. That worked up a bit more of an appetite…so we drove over to Krispie Kreme to get a few donuts. We ordered a half dozen glazed and one chocolate creme….and ended up with a box filled with a dozen random donuts. So we parked the car and Jared took them in to get the right order….and they gave us a dozen glazed donuts, my chocolate creme donut AND the funny box we were given in the first place. SCORE!!! 2 dozen Krispie Kremes for $5!!! We ate way too many, both got sugar buzzes and crashed shortly after returning home.
The next morning I was up and gone by 7 a.m. for scholarship competition at work. I was in the office and all over campus helping prospective students until 4 p.m. It was a loooooong day. I made it home and fell asleep on the couch by 4:30. At some point in the evening I managed to crawl into bed….where I stayed and slept until 9:30 this morning. What’s wrong with that picture?! That’s like 17 hours of sleep! Jared said he tried to wake me up (because he wanted supper)…but I apparently gave him the evil eye, rolled over and entered the land of sleep once again. Needless to say….my body and sleep cycle is now officially messed up. We got up in time for Sunday School though…so that was good.
We spent the rest of our day cleaning, doing laundry, playing around with some weird game that Jared found online. You build bridges and see if they’ll work. I think we must be nerds. Well I should probably wrap this up. I need to finish up the last load of laundry so that I can sleep again. Yes, you heard me…after for sleeping for what seemed like days…I’m completely ready to do it again. Have a good one!

This is for you Nicole :-)

Ok, so it’s been awhile since I last updated this thing. I’ve been busy with travel for work, so any free time I have I usually spend with the hubby. Things have been good though, despite the crazy business of having a real job. There are times when I wish I was a student again, writing huge papers doesn’t seem so bad anymore. I love my job though, it just gets busy.

We just got internet at our house, so hopefully I’ll be better about updating. Jared’s been busy trying to get things done before graduation gets here. So while he works on homework, I work on watching decorating shows and sappy romantic movies.

Over the past week and a half I’ve been able to stay with my buddy Karyn 2 nights. I love that my job takes me up her way so I can see her. It was so great to hang out with a girl for once…I miss having all of my best buddies around. One night we went out for steak and the other night we watched The Notebook, cried, and stuffed ourselves silly with various forms of chocolate.

The other night Jared and I watched I heart huckabees…which we liked…but it was certainly different. I love this whole Blockbuster thing where they send you 3 movies at a time…and you pick them online. Great stuff! We’ve been able to see lots of good movies because of it. Next on the list…”The Grudge”…we’ll see how that goes.

Really I don’t have much else to write about…yes…it’s just that boring right now. When I get some more time I’ll add more to this. Until then…adios!
